Lady Royals improve to 13-1

Thursday-Jay traveled all the way to Poplar Springs and cruised to 58-28 win. With the win, the Lady Royals ended a week where they went 2-0 and outscored their opponents 124-58. Next week the competition does stiffen for Jay as they travel to Paxton on Tuesday and then host Central next Friday.

Jay jumped out to a quick 18-0 lead against the Atomics and ended the first quarter 21-3. Jay would tack on another 19 in the second quarter to have a comfortable 40-16 lead at halftime. Eight Lady Royals had scored by halftime, including 8th grader Lucky Locklin, who finished the night with 5.

Jay’s offense went through a drought coming out of halftime, scoring only three in the entire third quarter and were actually outscored by Poplar Springs 8-3 during the period. However, the younger Lady Royals found their footing in the fourth where 8th graders Emory Vaughn, Lucy Locklin, and Olivia Atkinson combined for seven.

Aubreigh Nelson led the way for Jay with 12 while Carleigh Baker had 8.
