Jay’s Gavin Signs with U.S.A.

JHS-Senior Caitlyn Gavin signed a softball scholarship with the University of South Alabama on Wednesday. Gavin has been apart of the JHS Varsity Softball Team since she was in the 8th grade. She plays middle infield and was a major part of the 2022 Jay Softball State Championship winning team.

“It’s a great day for Jay High School anytime one of our student-athletes can continue playing in college,” head coach Brian Watson stated. “It is an exciting time for our school and our softball family. Very proud of Caitlyn!”

Gavin, who is a workaholic, sets the bar high in everything she does. While signing a Division 1 scholarship might be seen by most high school athletes as a destination-goal, that’s not how Caitlyn sees things.

“It means the work is just beginning.” she states. “Everyone thinks this is the end and while it’s the end of the recruitment journey, signing to South is just the beginning of what I’ve worked for.”
