Guy Thompson Community Center Activities 

WEEKLY ACTIVE ADULT ACTIVITIES AT THE GUY THOMPSON COMMUNITY CENTER

Center now offers a Tuesday matinee each week
 
The Guy Thompson Community Center has a number of events taking place for older active adults.
The Milton Parks and Recreation Department is looking to add more activities for active senior adults very soon.
With the wide variety of events offered for active adults (seniors), there is something for everyone to come out and enjoy something at the Guy Thompson Community Center from exercise classes, cards, bingo, or even art.
The parks department has made some changes to the Tuesday movie matinee. All movies will be rated either PG-13, PG, or G and will feature a big screen to enjoy them on as well as a theater sound experience. Refreshments are also provided to add to that special movie theater feel.
Seniors in the area to keep up with activities for them being held at the center by going to our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/SeniorsinMilton or when using the Facebook search option look for Senior Activities at the Guy Thompson Community Center. On this site you will see videos of the different activities as well as monthly and weekly scheduled activities.

As more activities are added they will be posted on this site as well.
The following activities are scheduled to occur the week of February 13 to February 17 at the Guy Thompson Community Center. All activities are free and open to the public unless a fee is indicated.
 
Monday – February 13
8:30 a.m. – Zumba: If you are looking for a workout then you need to come by for a fun and high energy exercise. Zumba is a fun way to get in shape and sweat to some awesome music. Class is $5.
9 a.m. – Cards and games: Come out and enjoy games and refreshments at the Milton Community Center.
9 a.m. – Tai Chi: This ancient art of exercise is very low impact and a great way to get out and strengthen your body and help your mobility. Class is $5.
10 a.m. – Line Dancing: Kick up your heels and learn a few dance steps in the Milton Community Center Gym. Class is $5.
1 p.m. – Bridge Club: Grab your partner and join the Guy Thompson Community Center Bridge Club. Play will consist of four rounds of six hands with partnerships rotating after each round. This is party style bridge and play will last until approximately 4:30 p.m. FREE
Tuesday – February 14
8:30 a.m. to noon – Pickleball: come play a game similar to tennis, but not on nearly as big of a court and not nearly as fast. Pickleball is one of the fastest growing sports in America and you are welcome to come out and give it a try. FREE
9 a.m. – Yoga with Angela: An enjoyable exercise class for all skill levels. A relaxing and beneficial hour. Class is $5.
10 a.m. to noon – Beginner’s Bridge: Learn the basics to bridge – keep score, how to bid, strategies, and more so you can play with other bridge groups. You do not need a partner for this class. FREE
12:30 p.m. – RSVP Bridge: Grab your partner and join the Guy Thompson Community Center Bridge Club. Play will consist of four rounds of six hands with partnerships rotating after each round. This is party style bridge and play will last until approximately 4:30 p.m. FREE
1 p.m. – Senior Movie Matinee: Enjoy a movie at the Guy Thompson Community Center. Every Tuesday at 1 p.m. a movie will be shown for your entertainment pleasure. This week’s movie will be the Alfred Hitchcock classic “The Paper Chase” starring John Houseman, Timothy Bottoms and Lindsay Wagner. FREE
Wednesday – February 15
9 a.m. to noon – Artist gathering: If you paint, draw or sketch you are invited to the Milton Community Center to practice your art among other artist in a fun and relaxing atmosphere. FREE

10 a.m. – 2 p.m. – Beader’s Anonymous: If you would like to try your hand at the art of beading, this is the group to learn or give it a try. FREE
10:30 to 11 a.m. – Pickleball: come play a game similar to tennis, but not on nearly as big of a court and not nearly as fast. Pickleball is one of the fastest growing sports in America and you are welcome to come out and give it a try. FREE
11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. – Fun Bunch Luncheon and Bingo: Come and enjoy a pot luck lunch and a short meeting of the fun bunch followed by a few games of bingo. Enjoy the fun and fellowship of the Fun Bunch.
6 p.m. – Yoga with Trudy: An enjoyable exercise class for all skill levels. A relaxing and beneficial hour. Class is $5.
Thursday – February 16
8:30 a.m. to noon – Pickleball: come play a game similar to tennis, but not on nearly as big of a court and not nearly as fast. Pickleball is one of the fastest growing sports in America and you are welcome to come out and give it a try. FREE
1 to 3 p.m. – Bingo at the Guy Thompson Community Center. Come and spend an entertaining afternoon playing bingo. There is a wide variety of prizes available and refreshments as well. Your first bingo card is free and each additional card is $1.
6 p.m. – Panhandle Writers Group Meeting: Meet with area writers to critique and offer opinions on written works such as short stories, poems, and parts of books. FREE
Friday – February 17
8:30 a.m. to noon – Pickleball: come play a game similar to tennis, but not on nearly as big of a court and not nearly as fast. This day is for those who want to come out for a fun recreational time and learn the basics of the game as well as the rules. Experience players are welcomed to come and play as well as space permits. Pickleball is one of the fastest growing sports in America and you are welcome to come out and give it a try. FREE
9 a.m. – Yoga with Angela: An enjoyable exercise class for all skill levels. A relaxing and beneficial hour. Class is $5.
10:30 a.m. – Adult Chair Aerobics/Yoga: This is an adaptive exercise class where all activities will be done by sitting or holding onto a chair. This class is great for people with physical issues such as weight, illness, chronic pain, as well as limited flexibility or mobility. Class is $5
noon – Cards and games. Come out and enjoy games and refreshments at the Milton Community Center. This is a free activity. FREE
5 to 8 p.m. – Artist gathering: If you paint, draw or sketch you are invited to the Milton Community Center to practice your art among other artist in a fun and relaxing atmosphere. FREE
