Story below from Monday, 9/7…

The Lady Royals(4-0) are taking their perfect record across the river tonight with a showdown against Flomaton. Flomaton usually has a pretty good team and they are sure to present a challenge for the undefeated Royals tonight. We were able to speak with Coach Campbell, head coach of the Royals and get an update of the girls and their season so far. Here is a transcript of that conversation…

Scott Campbell- “First off, Flomaton will be well coaches and will compete hard. If we don’t play at a high level, we will have a tough time winning the match. Really pleased with Hannah Prescott playing well in her new role for us, rotating, giving us more coverage off the net. Lauren Gavin playing well in Hannah’s old spot. Carissa Mulford and Bristin Campbell are the leaders on the floor. If they just keep doing their jobs keeping the team moving forwards, making the easy plays, we should continue to improve. Our setters are improving as well. Megan Mulford and Alyssa Baxley. Jenna Thornton developing into a good net player. Hannah Vaughn is fighting a leg injury, slowing her down a bit. Holly is learning as well, being a first year player.”

“This team has lots of experience, but Campbell and Carissa are the only two of the group that have pretty much the same roles as they did last year.”

Check back later tonight for scores. The Royals are on game 2 of a four game stretch playing on the road.
