May is Get Caught Reading Month. Get Caught Reading is a nationwide campaign to remind people of all ages how much fun it is to read. Visit any of the five Santa Rosa County Libraries in Gulf Breeze, Jay, Milton, Navarre, and Pace and Get Caught Reading!
Genealogy Research Assistance – Milton Library
Mondays 9 a.m. – noon
On Mondays from 9 a.m. – noon library volunteers are available at the Milton Library located at 5541 Alabama St., to provide general genealogy research guidance, one-on-one assistance in using online and print genealogy resources for family researchers, and assistance in filling out ancestral charts and family group records. Beginners and seasoned researchers are invited to use these services. To ensure a volunteer is available to assist you, please call before you visit.

Hopeful Hearts – Navarre Library
Fridays, 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
A series of meetings for “Hopeful Hearts,” a bereavement support group, will be held at the Navarre Library on Fridays from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. The weekly sessions will address grief support and offer assistance, love and listening ears to those grieving over the loss of a loved one. All materials will be provided and no reservation is required. There is no charge to participate. The programs are held at the Navarre Library located at 8484 James M. Harvell Rd. in Navarre.
Artists and Authors – Navarre Library
May 1, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Local artists and authors will be staged throughout the library, sharing their talents, signing books and discussing their works. Some of the participants will have items available for purchase. Enjoy free refreshments courtesy of the Friends of the Navarre Library. We are honored to feature these local talents. The Navarre Library is located at 8484 James M. Harvell Rd. in Navarre.
Children’s Book Week – May 4 – 10
Established in 1919, Children’s Book Week is the longest-running national literacy initiative in the country. This week is dedicated to instilling a lifelong love of reading in children. Visit any of the five Santa Rosa County Libraries in Gulf Breeze, Jay, Milton, Navarre, and Pace to help us celebrate literacy!
R.E.A.D. Dogs – Pace Library

Friends of the Navarre Library Board Meeting – May 11, 10:15 a.m.

Movie Matinee – Navarre Library

“When all you care about is here, this is a good place to be.” This line from Rodgers and Hammerstein’s musical could refer to your local library! Join us and sing along with your favorite tunes including “Some Enchanted Evening” and “I’m Gonna’ Wash That Man Right Outta My Hair.” Join fellow movie lovers on the second Tuesday of every month at 2 p.m., except during summer months, at the Navarre Library located at 8484 James M. Harvell Rd. in Navarre. Each program is open to the public and there is no charge or prior registration required. Refreshments are provided by the Friends of the Navarre Library.

Preserve Jar Craft Workshop – Gulf Breeze Library
May 27, 3:30 – 5 p.m.
Amy and Laura will show you how to make a fun painted jar or lantern that will look pretty in your garden or kitchen. These creations are so lovely, they are perfect for a party or wedding. This is a free, family friendly event. No need to sign up! Supplies will be provided. The Gulf Breeze Library is located at1060 Shoreline Dr. in Gulf Breeze.
Hospice Hour – Navarre Library
May 27, 3:30 p.m.
A series of hospice programs will be presented at the Navarre Library on the fourth Wednesday of each month. Shannon Snowden, R.N. and Karen Englert, both of Emerald Coast Hospice, will explain how hospice services work, what types of services including home health care are provided, and when hospice services might be beneficial. The program will be held in the Navarre Library Meeting Room, located at 8484 James M. Harvell Rd. in Navarre.
Register for Summer Reading – May 29
Don’t miss out! Last year, the Santa Rosa County Library System had record breaking numbers for summer reading programs. Online registration begins May 29 for all children from preschool age to those who have completed the fifth grade. After registering, pick up a reading calendar at your library or print one from our website. Read for 15 minutes per day between June 1 and July 17 for great prizes! Minutes read by parents to preschoolers may be counted. Bring your completed reading log to your library’s last program or to your library through July 31 to claim your prizes.
Summer Reading Programs
Programs for students who were in kindergarten through the fifth grades during the last school year will begin on June 8 and be held:
• 1 p.m. on Mondays at the Navarre Library
• 1 p.m. on Tuesdays at the Jay Library
• 5:30 p.m. on Tuesdays at the Pace Library
• 1 p.m. on Wednesdays at the Milton Library
• 5:30 p.m. on Wednesdays at the Gulf Breeze Library
All activities are free and open to the public. Registration for programs is not required.
Presenters in the weekly library programs are sponsored by the Friends of the Gulf Breeze Library, Friends of the Milton Library, Friends of the Navarre Library, and Friends of the Pace Library. Storytime
Santa Rosa County Libraries provide storytime for 3 to 5 year olds who are able to attend without a caregiver during the following times from June 8 to July 17:

• 11:15 – 11:45 a.m. on Wednesdays at the Milton Library
