Central to host Jay in Tony Macdonald’s final regular season game
This Friday night, the Central Jaguars will host the Jay Royals in a late January basketball game. If there were no other items involved in this matchup, it would still be worth the drive up to Allentown to watch this rival game. But, there are a few noteworthy things that makes this one extra special. For one, the Jags and the Royals have played in a couple of close games already this season. They met in the Jay Christmas Tournament when the Jags beat the Royals in the Championship game 43-37. Then earlier this month, the Royals hosted the Jags once again, only to come up short yet again 47-40 in yet another competitive game.
However the biggest reason you will want to find yourself in Central’s gym Friday night is because Tony Macdonald will be coaching in his last regular season basketball game as the Jaguars’ head coach. A staple in the community and for Central High School, Macdonald is well over 600 wins, as one would discover as the plaque commemorating that accomplishment is from a few years back. The place will be filled with former players coming to watch their coach in one last game and with youngsters who have only heard stories of Coach “Mac” told by their parents.
The gymnasium will be filled as excitement of the game is already building. We recommend you getting there early.
