SANTA ROSA COUNTY  SHERIFF’S OFFICE PRESS RELEASE

Derrick Thompson Arrest

Members of the Pike County Alabama Sheriff’s Office and Troy Police Department arrested Derrick Thompson at a hunting camp outside of Troy Alabama this morning. During the course of the investigation, the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Division discovered the location of the camp and advised the Pike County S.O. to be on the lookout for the suspect. While being interviewed, Thompson confessed to the double homicide that occurred in Milton as well as the homicide in that occurred yesterday in Bay County Florida. At the time of his arrest, Thompson was driving the Toyota truck belonging to the murder victim from Bay County, and was in possession of several handguns and one assault rifle. Thompson is waiving extradition and is expected to be transferred to the county jail in Bay County sometime today.

Suspect: Derrick Ray Thompson, W/M, DOB: 8/18/1972

Charges:  One open count of murder (Bay County)

Grand Theft, Burglary to a conveyance (Santa Rosa County)

Two open counts of murder (Pending)
