The City of Milton is excited to announce that Bands on the Blackwater has been extended for another five concerts.

After a very successful nine week season, Bands on the Blackwater will be extended from July 11 through August 8.

“We were pleasantly surprised by the number of people who have turned out this year,” said Milton Parks and Recreation Director John Norton. “Another amazing thing was the number of people who wanted us to extend the concerts after the Fourth of July.

“We listened and added five more concerts to the original nine we had scheduled.”

Once again a wide-variety is planned for the extended season.

So far commitments for the extended season have been received from The CrossTown Band as well as the Chris Martin Band.

The concerts will be held on the stage on South Willing St. from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Friday evening.

Individuals are urged to bring their lawn chairs or blankets and enjoy an evening of music along the Blackwater River.

“People can bring their coolers and lawn chairs to enjoy the concerts near the stage or set up on the Riverwalk overlooking the Blackwater River,” Norton said. “This year we have also seen a lot of boaters set up near the concert area along the Blackwater River to enjoy the music as well.

According to Norton, food and beverages will be available for purchase at the concerts and personal coolers are permitted as well.
