Baptist and Gulf Breeze Hospital help in Gas Explosion

Baptist Hospital and Gulf Breeze Hospital have been responding to Escambia County Jail’s Central Booking Gas Explosion this morning.

• Baptist Hospital has received 50 patients. 47 total patients have been treated and released at this time.
• Gulf Breeze Hospital has received 31 patients. 16 total patients have been treated and released at this time.

All are non-life threatening injuries. Both hospitals will continue to treat and release patients throughout the rest of the day. Law enforcement officers are escorting  prisoners as they receive treatment and will be release in their custody.  
While we are currently experiencing an increase in patient numbers in our triage area and emergency department, patient safety and privacy are still our top concerns.
Additional Considerations Currently, all services at Baptist Hospital and Gulf Breeze Hospital will remain normal.
Participating Agencies Baptist Hospital and Gulf Breeze Hospital will continue to work with the Escambia County Jail to respond to this emergency.
