Santa Rosa County wildfires
Forest Service firefighters remain on scene of the wildfire near Putnam and Ward Basin roads in East Milton. Crews are conducting burn out operations on the block and final size is estimated to be 8-10 acres.
“Burning out the remaining fuels is the best way to reduce the future wildfire potential here,” said Rena Barnes, a FFS Forest Area Supervisor for Santa Rosa County. “It’s wet and swampy in this area and our bulldozers wouldn’t have been very effective.”
Motorists along Ward Basin Road and US 90 are urged to use caution if they encounter smoke on the roadways.
The other two fires remain unchanged at this time.
