Century CI Reads to Jay Elementary Kindergarten Class
On Monday, March 3, 2014, thousands of schools across the nation celebrated Read Across America Day. The National Education Association’s signature program focuses on motivating children and teens to read through events, partnerships, and reading resources. The Read Across America Day takes place near or on Dr. Seuss’ birthday each year. This year, Century CI’s Assistant Warden Hutchins, along with Officer deGraaf, visited a kindergarten class at Jay Elementary School. They read the popular book The Foot Book to the students, and then helped with a special assignment. They also gave each student a special treat that the students loved! They talked to the students about the importance of learning how to read and getting a good education. “You’re never too old, too wacky, too wild, to pick up a book and read with a child.”
