Pensacola Marathon to offer Relay Catagory
The Pensacola Marathon is pleased to announce it will now offer a relay category for this year’s Pensacola Marathon, set for Sunday, November 10, 2013. Comprised of four teammates, each person will run a leg of the race totaling the full 26.2 mile marathon.
“As running, especially half and full marathons, becomes more popular, we realize not everyone is physically able or ready to complete a full marathon,” said Ray Palmer, Pensacola Sports Association Executive Director, the Pensacola Marathon managing organization. “This allows more people to participate and feel the accomplishment of working with a team to finish a marathon.”
Each team member will receive a performance wicking shirt, a commemorative Pensacola Marathon poster, and a special Pensacola Marathon Relay medal upon crossing the finish line.
Registration for the Pensacola Marathon Relay will only be accepted online by visiting www.marathonpensacola.com. Registrations for the relay will cut-off Oct. 19 and be limited to the first 250 teams.
The Pensacola Marathon is run on Veteran’s Day weekend. The race begins and ends at Veteran’s Memorial Park on the shore of beautiful Pensacola Bay. The course features historic and military landmarks, centuries old neighborhoods, the downtown district, bands, parade floats, and cheering Pensacolians. The finish line is adjacent to Pensacola Wall South, the Nation’s only replica of the National Vietnam War Memorial in Washington, D.C.
The Pensacola Marathon is also a Boston Qualifier for those still needing to qualify.
