Announces:

Emily Simon

Santa Rosa Rookie of the Year 201

Third Year, Kindergarten Teacher

West Navarre Primary School

The Santa Rosa Education Foundation announced Emily Simon of West Navarre Primary School as the Santa Rosa Rookie of the Year 2013 during a reception Wednesday afternoon.  She was selected from a field of 32 educators with three or less years of teaching experience who were honored at this event.  The Gulf Breeze Area Chamber of Commerce Sara Caudell Scholarship was matched by a gracious donation left by longtime resident, the late Mrs. Jo Nutt, in loving memory of her deceased children, Terry and Melody Mix to award Emily with a $1,000 scholarship.

“Emily’s expertise as an educator is already very evident. She has a strong grasp on all areas of her curriculum, but still seeks to increase her knowledge base and hone her craft. She also finds ways to blend the tried-and-true with the new and innovative. Emily realizes that SHE is the most significant variable in her children’s education and knows that having a positive attitude and being encouraging plays a tremendous role in such an important and formative year in a child’s education.”

West Navarre Primary Principal Sandi Eubanks
