Celebrating eight years of “Soundside Splendor,” a ‘magical’ event to help kids

March 4, 2013, Pensacola, Fla. — Thanks to the hard work of many dedicated volunteers and generous sponsors, Children’s Home Society of Florida’s “A Sunday of Soundside Splendor” has become one of the Gulf Coast’s most anticipated annual dining and entertainment events. Tickets are now available for the eighth annual “Soundside Splendor,” to be held Sunday, April 14 at Portofino Island Resort. All proceeds benefit local CHS programs that serve abused and neglected children in the western Panhandle.

Collier and Cate Merrill are the honorary chairs of the 2013 “Soundside Splendor.” The event will once again feature the fine cuisine of many of our area’s top local chefs. The featured chefs include: Jim Shirley (The Fish House), Gus Silivos (Nancy’s Haute Affairs), Dan Dunn (H20), Steven Wu (Shan Kishi), Chris Massey (Portofino Island Resort), Tricia Horton (Jaco’s Bayfront Bar & Grille), Jason Norris (East Hill Market), David Penniman (Classic City Catering), and Dennis Moore (Flounder’s Chowder House). In addition to food and wine, guests will enjoy live entertainment from Clarence Bell and the Fellas and the chance to bid on dozens of luxury items in the live and silent auctions at the event. Several large-screen TVs will be tuned in toThe Masters.

“‘Soundside Splendor is a magical event because it raises so much money to help kids who have been hurt or abandoned,” said event co-chair Beverly Pica, a member of the CHS Western Division Board of Directors. “It began with an idea for an elegant wine tasting fundraising event but it has grown into something much bigger.”
