Healthy Families Celebrated in Santa Rosa County
Jan. 4, 2012, Pensacola, Fla. — Children’s Home Society of Florida’s Healthy Families program held its annual Christmas party and family graduation on Dec. 5, 2012 in the Russell Center at Locklin Tech. Seven families were honored for their successful completion of the program. (The attached photo shows several of the seven graduating families and one of the two five-year participants, along with several of the program’s staff members.)
Healthy Families Florida is a nationally accredited home visiting program for expectant parents and parents of newborns experiencing stressful life situations. The program improves childhood outcomes and increases family self-sufficiency by empowering parents through education and community support. Parents voluntarily participate in Healthy Families so they can learn how to recognize and respond to their babies’ changing developmental needs, use positive discipline techniques, cope with the day-to-day stress of parenting in healthy ways, and set and achieve short- and long-term goals. Healthy Families Santa Rosa is sponsored by Children’s Home Society of Florida and supported by local businesses and local and state officials.
Healthy Families Santa Rosa thanks these area businesses that provided donations in support of the graduation and Christmas Party event: Red Barn BBQ, Texas Road House, Milton Dominos Pizza, Pace Chick-fil-A, Pace Wal-Mart, Pace Publix, and Sam’s Club.
