Efforts to Bring Tennis to Benny Russell Continue
The Pace Area Tennis Association has been working with commissioners Salter and Williamson and county staff since 2010
to develop a plan to improve access to tennis facilities in Pace by utilizing undeveloped space at Benny Russell Park to build
four 78 foot courts, four quick start courts without lights, a 2,000 square foot building to house restrooms, offices, concessions, walkways and additional parking.

The site survey is complete and project layout, design and permitting is approximately 30 percent complete. Once this phase is complete, the project will come before the board for approval and construction services would be sought through a competitive bid process.
If approved by the board, the facility would be funded through PATA donations and District 1 and District 3 recreational funds. PATA currently has a management agreement with the county to oversee the development of tennis programs at the Santa Rosa Sports Complex through tournaments, junior tennis camps, clinics, league play and the USTA Quick Start Tennis Program.
PATA is looking for tennis enthusiasts to help grow this sport in our community. For more information visit www.paceareatennis.org or contact PATA at (850) 994-8741 or paceareatennis@gmail.com.
