Arns Gets 15 Years for Burglary and Grand Theft
State Attorney Bill Eddins announced today that Sheldon Clifford Arns pled no contest to multiple charges of Burglary and Grand Theft. Following his plea, Arns was sentenced by Judge Joel Boles to 15 years state prison as a Prison Releasee Reoffender.
Between June 2011 to April 2012, Arns and several co-defendants were responsible for numerous thefts of air conditioning units, copper piping, inside and underneath the residences, and cooper gutter systems. They would dismantle the AC units, take the copper and aluminum parts which they then sold to recycling centers. Arns was caught in the act of taking a copper downspout from a home and the individual inside the home called 911. He was arrested at the scene of the crime. Damages to the residences exceeded $70,000.
The investigation and arrest were conducted by the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office and Pensacola Police Department. Assistant State Attorney Charles Ferenchick prosecuted the case and for further information, please contact him at 595-4548.
