Lady Royals Finish First in a Field of Eight Teams

The Jay Royals Girl’s Cross Country team came in 1st place at the Northview Meet Tuesday, October 9th beating out T.R. Miller and 6 other teams in attendance.  Top runner for Jay was Jessica Thornton, 3rd place overall, with a time of 20:51 on the hilly course.  The top 5 Jay girls were in the top 15 overall places.  The Jay Royals boy’s top finisher was Micah Kemp, 2nd place overall, with a time of 17:21.  Today showed the team unity coming together, as the Royals start preparing for Districts, which is only a few weeks away.  As the motto legacy of the former great Coach James “Mac” McDaniel of Jay would say, “I CAN!  I WILL!!  I WANT TO!!!”  These kids are doing just that!  Good job Royals!  ~Coach Teresa Hendricks
