Making A Dream Come True
Facebook is often times the place where people vent anger and frustration but only yesterday the website was the catalyst in making a dream come true for one special teenager. Halee Boyd, 17, of Cantonment had her heart set on seeing Miranda Lambert in concert. Halee has a rare form of cancer and had a setback putting her in Scared Heart Hospital and it looked as if that dream was impossible. Halee is a straight “A” student at Tate High School.
Nurses are a special breed, and when Greg Odom, a flight nurse for Lifeguard, saw the posts on Facebook he did something. Greg, a resident of Jay and a ’87 graduate from Flomaton High School started calling fellow workers at Lifeguard, a plan formed. Greg said, “Something about her just reached out to me, I wanted to help”. Lifeguard Ambulance Service of Santa Rosa County is donating a medical team and ambulance to take Halee to the concert. When they ended the room to deliver the news, her mom burst into tears, and Halee’s face lit up.
The doctors had a meeting and said yes, the Wharf is making adjustments for the stretcher. Halee has been given a meet and greet pass, and some Angels Among Us are making her dream a reality. They will pick her up at 4:30 this afternoon so if you see her ambulance make its way to the Wharf take time to wave and remember dreams can come true with the help of friends.
Halee will celebrate her 18th birthday Saturday, October 6th.
