Peanut Festival Starts Today

The 23rd Annual Peanut Festival will be Saturday, October 6 and Sunday, October 7, 2012. The festival will be 9 am to 6 pm.  each day.  The festival is located on the grounds of Gabbert Farms.  The family began the festival in memory of their daughter, Melissa (Missy) Caroline Gabbert.

The Gabbert Farm is located 4- ½ miles south of Jay, Florida off Hwy 89 at 3604 Pine Level  Church Rd.

Any type of peanut you can imagine will be on sale: green, boiled, roasted, fried and candied.  There will be live entertainment both days.  Saturday will feature country and pop and Sunday will have gospel all day.  Some performing artists are: Dare to Dream Ent.; Felicia Johnson; Mr. Henry Botts; Jim Lassiter & Family.

There will be an arts and crafts section with many booths. Displays with Antique Tractors, Wagons, Horse Drawn Equip, Putt Putt Engines, Grist Mill, and much more.

There will be pony rides, horse rides, hay rides, train rides, wagon rides, inflatable rides, rock climbing, mechanical bull riding, bungee jumping and aqua bubbles.

Line up for Saturday: at 2 pm the pig chase will begin.  On Sunday there will be a 9 am church service with Rev. Earl Greene; then at 2 pm a pet dress up parade and contest.

A Antique Shop and Museum will be open both days.
