Dispose of your Prescription Drugs Safely: National Take Back Day on Saturday

In coordination with the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind community members to dispose of expired, unwanted, and unused prescription drugs safely. Saturday, September 29, 2012 is National Take Back Day and has been set aside for 2012 as a reminder to all take responsibility in helping prevent Prescription Drug misuse and abuse. National surveys reveal that 70% of people 12 and older who abuse prescription drugs get them from friends and family.  Prevention is the key to reduce substance abuse. Let’s join together to be part of the solution and dispose of unused, expired or unwanted prescription drugs safely. The Santa Rosa Sheriff’s Office has permanent disposal boxes that residents can use located at the Milton, Pace, Jay, and Navarre District Offices. They are available for public use for disposal of unwanted prescription drugs Monday through Friday, from 8am to 5pm. The Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office will also be participating on Saturday, September 29, 2012, from 9am to 1pm at the Gulf Breeze District Office (Hwy 98 and College Blvd) and the Main Sheriff’s Office (5755 East Milton Road, Milton).  We encourage the public to take part on Saturday and dispose of your prescription drugs properly at these locations.
