Contractor Arrested for Scrapping Dumpsters He was Supposed to Repair
A Mobile Alabama man is in the Santa Rosa County Jail after he scrapped 164 roll-off dumpsters that he was hired to repair. Arenza Tyrone Davis (B/M, 33 years old) remains in jail on a $45,000.00 bond after being arrested on September 14th, 2012. The arrest stems from an investigation which was conducted into Davis’ activities between the months of April 2011 and September 2011. During this time frame, Waste Pro hired a company to refurbish (weld) and paint several hundred dumpster containers. The containers in question were stored at the Santa Rosa County Landfill (Milton). The hired company subcontracted the job, and the main welder assigned to the Santa Rosa County Landfill Site was Arenza “Tyrone” Davis. The Sheriff’s Office was notified by Waste Pro in September 2011 that Davis was stealing the containers from the landfill. Davis was then hiring trucking companies to transport the stolen containers to scrap yards in Alabama, where they would be scrapped for cash. The investigation revealed that Davis stole 140 dumpsters from Waste Pro, Valued at $300,000.00. Davis also stole 24 dumpsters from Waste Management, which were also stored at the landfill. They were valued at $79,500.00. Investigators were able to find that 113 of the stolen dumpsters were scrapped, totaling 567,200 pounds. Davis received $82,353.00 for the “scrap”.
