Jay Unable to Stop Holmes County
The Jay Royals were unable to stop the Holmes County Blue Devils Friday night. The Blue Devils rolled to a 52-14 win.
The Royals had no luck at all in the game. Gloom, despair and agony gripped the Royals. They hurt themselves in the first quarter. Score 21-0 HC.
Ricky Cofield had another astonishing play with 9:40 in the second. He had 77 yard run, after he was almost brought down in the first few yards. ” The Blue Devils defense gave up but Cofield didn’t”, said one long time Royal fan. Giving the Royals their only touchdown in the first half. At the half it was 45-6 HC.
In the third quarter, the Royals showed some life after a blocked punt. They drove the ball down, utilizing the legs of Cofield and then with just 12 yards to the goal line the Royals ran a quarterback keeper and Upton had the second Royal touchdown of the night.
Cofield ran for 163 yards which is an amazing feat against the dominate Blue Devils.
Coach Kent Smith said, “I am not doing a good job teaching blocking and tackling, we are going to work to get better, Bonifay was a very good physical football team.”
The Royals will take the home field next Friday against Sneads. Kickoff is at 7 pm. Come out and support our Royals. Win or Lose : they are still our team.
