Healthy Lives
PENSACOLA, Fla. (Aug. 27, 2012) – Baptist Health Care recently launched an employee wellness program, Healthy Lives™ Powered by Baptist Health Care. Healthy Lives™ is a comprehensive initiative to engage team members and their families in their own health care management. By delivering customized programs, including health screenings and coaching, Healthy Lives™ aims to help the Baptist Health Care workforce live healthier and keep health care costs low.
Baptist Health Care President and CEO Mark Faulkner said Healthy Lives™ is a fresh approach to health care and is a way to offer more benefits, incentives and services to BHC team members and the community.
“Baptist Health Care’s mission is to ‘provide superior service based on Christian values to improve the quality of life for people and communities served,’“ Faulkner said. “Healthy Lives will help Baptist do even more to improve the health of our communities, but it also is a powerful tool for driving down health care costs and improving employee morale and productivity. We are inviting local employers to partner with us and become a Healthy Lives workplace.”
The Healthy Lives™ program model was developed in 2008 by Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady Health System (FMOLHS) in Baton Rouge, La. This year, FMOLHS was one of only nine organizations across the country (and the only health care organization) to receive a medallion of honor from the U.S. Surgeon General for improving the health of its employees. Additionally, the system was recognized as a 2012 Best Employer for Healthy Lifestyles by the National Business Group on Health. Baptist Health Care is the first health system outside of FMOLHS to launch Healthy Lives™.
The Healthy Lives™ approach and focus was developed with the mission of promoting health, wellness, and spiritual wholeness. In addition to health screenings and coaching, Healthy Lives™ workplaces can receive assistance with benefits plan designs, employee rewards program, and access to a members-only web portal to promote and encourage healthy behaviors.
