Construction Worker Struck and Killed

A construction worker was struck and killed in Okaloosa County Tuesday night around 11:50 pm.

Michael David Stull, 35, of Fort Walton Beach was traveling northbound within the inside travel lane of State Road 85. State Road 85 was under roadway construction and the center turn lane, southbound inside travel lane, and southbound middle lane were coned off and were blocked from vehicular traffic. All three northbound lanes were open for normal travel. A roadway construction steel roller was properly parked by Frank Donson. within the closure and was located within the center turn lane of State Road 85. Frank Thomas Donson, 56, of Pensacola was walking northbound toward the roller and was located within the center lane of State Road 85 and was within the closure when Stull approached from the rear. For unknown reasons, Stull drifted toward the left and struck an orange cone just prior to striking Donson. After striking the cone, Stull struck Donson, (left front/center to rear) which propelled Donson in a northerly direction toward the roller. Donson struck/glanced off the right rear corner/side of the roller and tumbled to final rest located within the inside northbound land of State Road 85. After striking Donson, Stull struck the roller, front to right rear corner and both vehicles came to final rest facing a northeasterly direction.

Charges are pending the full investigation by the Florida Hwy Patrol.
