Medicaid Costs Reduced

Representative Doug Broxson Announces Medicaid Costs Significantly Reduced for Escambia, Santa Rosa and Okaloosa Counties

After reviewing thousands of Medicaid claims, the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) released revised figures today that will significantly reduce Medicaid costs to Escambia, Santa Rosa and Okaloosa counties.  “It has been our privilege to work with the staff at AHCA, Escambia County, Santa Rosa County and Okaloosa County to relieve this liability from citizens of these counties as well as the other 64 counties in the State,” said State Representative Doug Broxson (R-Gulf Breeze).

What this means for Escambia County is a saving of over $4 million in Medicaid costs.  Santa Rosa County’s cost was reduced from $813,000 to $34,065, and Okaloosa County saved over $560,000.  Broxson stated, “We have notified each county with the good news and appreciate their hard work.  I would also like to thank AHCA for their effort as they spent thousands of hours to help soften the blow of past Medicaid bills for our counties.  This is what happens when leaders don’t shy away from controversy and work together towards a solution.”
