Navarre Beach Pier Admission Waived for Mobility and Visually Impaired
The Santa Rosa County Board of County Commissioners voted on Thursday, June 14 to waive admission to the Navarre Beach Pier for those with mobility and visual impairments, effective immediately. Those with physical limitations of one or more limbs, to their gross motor ability, or having impaired vision including partially sighted or blind will be admitted to the pier for fishing or observing at no charge. The pier was constructed with an ADA entrance ramp and includes 16 handicap accessible railing locations.
Navarre Beach Pier located at 8579 Gulf Boulevard, opened on June 5, 2010 after hurricanes Ivan and Dennis destroyed the previous pier in 2004 and 2005. At 1,545 feet long, the pier is the longest in the State of Florida and the Gulf of Mexico. Admission for those fishing is $7 for adults, and $6 for seniors and military, $4 for youth, free for disabled veterans, and $1 for walkers. Annual passes are also available. The summer hours of operation are 5 a.m. – 10 p.m., seven days a week.
