Gulf Breeze American Legion donates $1,000 to Vets to VA Clinics

Chuck Olsen, Commander of the Gulf Breeze American Legion Post 378 presented a $1,000 check to Vets to VA Clinics, one of the programs under the Santa Rosa County Veterans Memorial Foundation.  The Foundation received its 501(c)(3) status as a non-profit in January 2012 and is currently raising funds for a shuttle service to transport <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = “urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags” /> Santa Rosa County veterans who do not have their own means of transportation from their homes to the VA Clinic in Pensacola.  Public transportation options are limited in Santa Rosa County, and the round-trip taxi fare is cost-prohibitive for many veterans.  The Gulf Breeze American Legion Post 378 also made the commitment to financially support the program each quarter.

With the check from the Gulf Breeze American Legion, Vets to VA Clinics has raised $21,500 but needs another $8,500 to reach its goal of $30,000. The funds raised will pay operational expenses for at least one year for a twice a week shuttle.

Individuals or organizations desiring to help can make donations to the Santa Rosa County Veterans Memorial Foundation, Vets to VA Clinics, 5191C Willing Street, Milton, FL 32570 or call Ralph Nesenson at (850) 626-7292.
