Sheriff’s Office Arrests Owners of Two Specialty “Smoke Shops” in Milton 

The owners of two specialty “Smoke Shops” in Milton have been arrested after they were found to be in possession of and sale of “Spice” or “Bath Salts” after the new ban. 

Michael D. Johnson, owner of Stackhouse Records (5410 Dogwood Drive, Milton) was arrested on six separate warrants after undercover officers made numerous purchases from his establishment since January 2012. 

 “Bath Salts” were purchased from this establishment on 1/23/12, 3/27/12 and 3/29/12.  The suspected bath salts, sold under the pretenses of “Watch Cleaner”, was named “Role-X”.  It was sent to FDLE for chemical analysis and was found to contain

 Flouroamphetamine, a controlled substance commonly found in “Bath Salts”.  “Spice” was purchased on 3/27/12, 3/28/12.  The suspected “Spice”, sold under the pretenses of “Herbal Incense” had names such as “Baby Breath” and “Red Hot Poker”. ”.  It was sent to FDLE for chemical analysis and was found to contain illegal compounds commonly found in “Spice”.  Johnson was also charged with one count of Possession of a Controlled Substance for a small amount of “Spice” that was located in his establishment during a search warrant on April 3rd, 2012.  Johnson was charged with 3 counts of Sale of Amphetamine, 8 counts of Sale of a Hallucinogen, 1 count of Sale of a Synthetic Narcotic, and 1 count of Possession of a Controlled Substance.  He is being held at the Santa Rosa County Jail with no bond. Michael D. Rachael Hartsell, owner of Showcase Smoke Shop (5400 Dogwood Drive, Milton) was arrested on a warrant stemming from a search warrant executed at her establishment on 4/03/12.  

During that search warrant, Hartsell was found to be in possession over 1000 packages of “Spice”.  There were 16 different brands being sold.  A sample of each was sent to FDLE for chemical analysis and they were all found to contain chemicals which are controlled, or illegal to sell or possess.  Hartsell was arrested on 16 counts of Possession of an Illicit Substance with the Intent to Sell.  Hartsell was also arrested on a warrant stemming from a sale of “Spice” to an undercover officer, which occurred on 328/12.  During that transaction, the undercover officer was able to purchase a package of “Mad Hatter”, which is sold under the pretenses of “potpourri”.  This also contained controlled substances.  Hartsell was arrested and released on a $85,00

Sheriff Hall will continue to direct the Narcotics Division to aggressively go after any person or establishment that continues to possess or sell “Spice” or “Bath Salts”.  According to Sheriff Hall, “We will continue to arrest those responsible for this type of activity.  As with all illegal narcotics, they have no place in this county. We will continue to do our very best in shutting down any establishment that disregards the laws that are in place to keep our community safe and drug free.”  Sheriff Hall also states that undercover purchases are still taking place, and will continue until the activity stops.0.00 bond.
