Five Points Re-Design Approved
The Santa Rosa County Board of Commissioners approved the redesign of the Five Points Improvement Project to construct a two lane rural roadway section for the new Berryhill segment in January 2011. The project design was completed in late March by Baskerville-Donovan, Inc. and bids were opened on May 30, with four companies submitting proposals. The bids will be reviewed with a recommendation of award slated for discussion at the June 11 board of county commission meeting.
The project will be funded 50 percent, up to $1 million, by the Florida Department of Transportation for construction, engineering and inspection with the county matching 50 percent. The current Five Points project includes construction of a two lane rural road way section north of Berryhill Road connecting to Chumuckla Highway, creation of a new retention pond, widening the right turn lane and merge lanes on Quintette Road, and widening of the right turn lane on Chumuckla Highway.
