Central Top 5 Honor Students

Central School Principal, Farica King, announced the Top 5 Honor Students.  They are: Valedictorian-Taylor Lauren Mitchell; Salutatorian-Bradford Shaw Gaines; Myranda Nicole Jernigan-3rd;  Trevor Jacob Fisher-4th; and  Marshall Dylan Peacock-5th.

Valedictorian  – Taylor Mitchell

     Taylor has a Weighted GPA of 4.52. Her parents are Daphne and Tommy Mitchell. Her Grandfather is Tommy Mitchell.  Taylor has one brother, Jackson Mitchell.

Taylor has many academic accomplishments.  She has participated in the following academic activities: Academic Team, History Bowl, and the Nikki Walker math competition. She has received the following are academic accomplishments: Underclassman Hall of Fame 2010 for English II Honors, 2011 Outstanding Student, Underclassman Hall of Fame 2011 for English III Honors , voted Most Likely to Succeed of junior class, voted senior class Most Likely to Succeed, have been on both the Dean’s List and President’s List at Pensacola State College, was rewarded the first Female Senior Scholar Athlete Award from Central, will have my A.A. degree by the end of this summer, and Valedictorian of the senior class.

She has also received the Florida Medallion Scholar (75% Bright Futures) Scholarship and John C. Pace Honors Scholarship from UWF.

Taylor will earn her Associates Degree this summer, and plans to start her B.S. degree in the fall at University of West Florida where she plans on majoring in History/ Pre-Law. Afterwards, she will be devoted to attending law school at Florida State University. After law school, she would like to be partnering in or owning her own law firm.

Her favorite memory at Central took place during this past softball season. The practice got rained out, so as a team they convinced Coach Baxley to let them play war ball in the gym instead of running and conditioning. It was a blast playing war ball with the team, and she also thinks it was a great bonding experience for the team. Although it was something simple as war ball, it is a memory that she will cherish and never forget.

 

Myranda Jernigan

Myranda is ranked 3rd with a GPA of 3.89.  Her parents are David and Gena Jernigan.  Myranda’s grandparents are Wendell and Patty Jernigan and Eugene and Hazel Trawick.  She has three siblings Natalie, Ethan, and Kylee Jernigan.

Myranda has had many accomplishments at Central they include:

9th – Most likely to Succeed, SGA (Student Government Association), FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) (Secretary), 1st Priority

10th- Underclassmen Hall of Fame, Most likely to succeed, Outstanding Student award, FCA (Secretary), SGA, 1st Priority, Senior Beta, Key Club, Yearbook Staff

11th- Underclassmen Hall of Fame, FCA (Vice President), SGA, 1st Priority, Senior Beta, Yearbook Staff, Most Defensive Player award (Volleyball)

12th- Most Dependable Senior Girl, Outstanding Senior Girl award, Senior Hall of Fame, Senior Honors Student, FCA (Vice President), SGA, Key Club, NEHS (National English Honors Society), Senior Beta, Yearbook Editor

Myranda is the recipient of the Santa Rosa Medical Center Scholarship, The University of West Florida Pace Honors Scholarship, and Daughters of the American Revolution Scholarship.

Her plans after graduation is to attend medical school to become either a pediatric surgeon or a neurosurgeon; settle into a firm career and eventually get married and start a family.

Myranda’s favorite memory is beating Paxton by one point at our home gym during her senior basketball season.
