Team Plays “In Honor of Chris Villar”
One team that participated in the 3 on 3 Tournament held at Central on Saturday, April 28 were playing for a special memory. The team consisting of : Bill Villar, Jacob Villar, Justin Campbell and JK, played in honor of Chris Villar.
Chris a 2002 graduate of Central, lost his life to a drunk driver on June 16, 2006 at the age of 22. The return to the gym brought bittersweet memories to Bill Villar, Chris’ Dad. Chris was a remarkable young man that loved the sport of basketball and when the team stepped on the court they had a different goal. Winning is the usual goal but for the team Villar, they stepped out to remember Chris and their shared enjoyment of the game.
Bill wears a t-shirt in remembrance to his son. It is a reminder to all of us to treasure each day and each other. It is also a reminder of what happens when people drink and drive. A special thanks to the team for coming out and sharing these moments with us.
