Impersonating a State Trooper Arrest
Pensacola-On Tuesday April 17th the Florida Highway Patrol issued arrest warrants for Austin Allen
Oldfield age 20 of Pace for Impersonating a Florida Highway Patrol Trooper and Auxiliary Trooper. He
surrendered himself to the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s office Tuesday evening.
On April 5,2012 Mr. Oldfield was observed in a local restaurant in the Pace area wearing a tan
BDU type uniform with Florida Highway Patrol insignia, emblem’s, and badge. Mr. Oldfield was representing
himself as a Florida Highway Patrol Trooper. An off-duty trooper in the restaurant made contact with Mr.
Oldfield and began conversing with him. Mr Oldfield identified himself as an Auxiliary Trooper with the Florida
Highway Patrol. The off-duty trooper left the restaurant and began making inquiries as to Mr. Oldfield’s Status
as an Auxiliary Trooper. It was determine that he was not a member of the Highway Patrol or Auxiliary. An onduty
trooper was dispatched to the restaurant to make contact with Mr. Oldfield, but he had already departed
the restaurant.
A subsequent investigation as a result of this initial contact discovered that Mr. Oldfield on two
other occasions had been wearing this uniform and identified himself as a Florida Highway Patrol Trooper or
Auxiliary Trooper during casual contact with other persons. This investigation led to the arrest of Austin Allen
Oldfield on multiple charges of impersonating a law enforcement officer and imitation of the Florida Highway
Patrol Uniform.
At this time it is believed that Mr. Oldfield did not have any contact with citizens in a law
enforcement capacity. This investigation is still ongoing at this time. The Florida Highway Patrol is asking that
anyone who may have had contact with Mr. Oldfield in a law enforcement capacity to please contact them at
