Pedestrian Killed on Hwy 98 in Gulf Breeze

James Gresko, 54 of Pensacola, driving  a 2005 International Semi Truck was traveling eastbound on U.S. Highway 98 (State Road 30, Gulf Breeze Parkway) in the outside lane.  The accident occurred on Monday, March 12 around 4:40 am.  P-1 (pedestrian) was crossing U.S. Hwy 98 in the intersection of College Parkway walking south.  The accident happened about 1 mile east of Oriole Beach Elementary.  The Pedestrian (a 47 year old white female) was wearing dark clothing and there are no street lights in the intersection. She was not using the designated crosswalks. The identification of the pedestrian is pending notification of next of kin.  Gresko was unable to see the pedestrian until it was too late to avoid a collision. The front right of truck struck the woman. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased on scene. This crash is being investigated by the Florida Highway Patrol Traffic Homicide Unit.
