Gabby on way to Recovery

Gabrielle had a  pretty good day today for Valentines Day.  She was able to sit up in the bed twice. Her lungs are still really weak so the doctors are working on it with her. She is in a good bit of pain, but as anyone whose had there chest cracked open would tell you the pain is worth it.  Her aunt, Jennifer Blair was able to communicate with Gabby and said, ” I told her to hang on she came this far. I would love to take all the pain away, but we just got a ways to go.”   If all goes as planned, the staff will have her up and walking on Wednesday.

Gabby was able to be taken off the vent on Monday and she is breathing on her own.  After the surgery, her aunt Jennifer was able to tell her a that she  a brand new heart and she mouthed thank you. The family feels so blessed, they expressed thanks to all of their friends, family and the staff at Shands Hospital.
