Royals Win Last Regular Game in Overtime

The Jay High Royals hosted the Central Jaguars Friday night, Feb. 3 on the last regular season game for both teams.  The Royals defeated the Jaguars 69-58 in overtime to close out a winning season.  Coach Lance Youngblood, said, “this was a great way for our seniors to end the regular season, I am proud all of our players and how well they played”.  Senior Todd Laney led the team in scoring with 23 points, he was almost perfect in freethrows scoring 11 out of 12.  His biggest impact was shooting 8 for 8 in overtime.  The Royals’ Tyler Prescott and Eric Travino both added 19 points each to the score.  The Royals will head to Freeport to open the District Tournament against Baker High School on Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2012.   Youngblood had this to say about the post season tournament, ”  our goal is to go after one more game and then one more after that”.
