New Transition Committee to Meet

Economic Development Activities Continue Through Review -Transition Committee First Meeting February 6-

On Jan. 26, the Santa Rosa County Board of Commissioners appointed a 15 member transition committee tasked with reviewing and making recommendations on the future of economic development in Santa Rosa County . The committee will be responsible for making recommendations on how to restructure the county’s current economic development organization, TEAM Santa Rosa EDC, Inc. in hopes of strengthening economic development efforts. During this time, TEAM Santa Rosa will continue to be a functional economic development organization with the current support staff until the transition committee has reviewed the organization and recommendations are presented and adopted by the board of county commissioners.

According to Commission Chair and District 1 Commissioner Jim Williamson, “We have been in the process of reviewing TEAM since the fall. While the current contract with TEAM is set to expire on March 31, the purpose of the committee is not to start from scratch, but improve the organization we currently have. I am confident that our commission board will take the steps necessary to ensure that economic development continues throughout the transition committee’s review and the implementation process, even if that process continues past the current contract expiration. A strong and functional economic development organization that has the support of the public and local business is essential to the future of our county. It is vital that the right changes are made, not that changes are made in haste.”

The transition committee will be asked to review and make recommendations on the transition of the current executive director, rebranding of TEAM Santa Rosa , the operational structure of the organization, the make up of board representation, and how regional joint efforts may be improved and maximized. The first meeting of the committee is Monday, Feb. 6 at 3 p.m. in the commission board room located at 6495 Caroline Street in Milton .
