A New Heart for Gabrielle Danford
Gabrielle Danford, a 10th grade student at Central, has learned that she is in need of a Heart Transplant. Gabrielle was feeling sick and not realizing a virus had attacked her heart. She has been transported to Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Fl to undergo surgery for a new heart.
The students, faculty and staff at Central are raising funds to help Gabrielle and her family. The travel expenses to go and stay until she is better are expensive. Melissa Baxley is spearheading the drive at Central. They are dedicating their Jump Rope for Heart in her honor and they have jars in every homeroom for the students to donate. The classroom that raises the most will receive an award.
Another way to honor Gabby is to “Wear RED” on Friday, Feb. 3 National Wear Red Day for Women’s Heart Disease Awareness.
