Accident with no injuries at Chumuckla Hwy & Hwy 89

Monday night in the heavy fog a driver from Brewton, driving east on Chumuckla Hwy. (Hwy 197) and  missed the stop sign and went straight across Hwy 89 and into the deep culvert. The one car accident was just north of Lighthouse Christian Academy on Hwy 89.  No injuries were reported. The first on the scene, workers with US Towing and Recovery, located in Jay, said that “the fog was so thick, even just 10 seconds behind the vehicle, they could only see the aftermath of the accident”.  They stopped and used the signals on their towing trucks to alert passing drivers of the accident and to proceed with caution.  Many that responded to the accident questioned why a guardrail has not been installed at this intersection.
