Baptist Health Care Celebrates Healthy Weight Week

PENSACOLA, Fla. (Jan. 18, 2012) – This week is Healthy Weight Week, a time to celebrate healthy eating habits and healthy lifestyles. During this time, encourage yourself, family and friends to eat better, get active, and start feeling good about your body.

Baptist Health Care and the primary care offices of Baptist Medical Group challenge you this week to stop focusing on failed attempts at weight loss and focus on getting healthy at your natural size. The way to achieve a healthier you is to make lifestyle changes such as eating better and exercising more.

“The importance of being healthy outweighs the temporary satisfaction received from fad dieting,” states Mickey Daum M.D., family medicine physician at Baptist Medical Group Family Medicine – Westside. “Eating healthier and living an active lifestyle will also reduce your risk of heart disease, diabetes, chronic illnesses, and other serious conditions.”

Healthy Weight Week comes at the perfect time of the year. Many people make New Year’s resolutions to lose weight. This year, focus on a resolution that will improve your quality of life.

“In addition to partnering with patients to help them set and reach tangible health-related goals, our office also offers a medically supervised weight loss program to give people an extra boost towards reaching their weight-loss goals,” states Sandra Moody, A.R.N.P., family medicine provider working alongside Dr. Daum at the Westside office. “With the help of your health care team, you can reach your health goals. This week is a great week to get started.”

If you are struggling with your resolution to get healthier and need some guidance with healthy habits, the compassionate physicians with Baptist Medical Group are here to help. Call 850.453.6737 to speak with a member of the Westside office about a customized weight loss program or visit for a full list of primary care offices near you.
