Minimum Wage Increases by 36 cents

Florida increased the minimum wage to $7.67 per hour effective January 1, 2012. A  36 cent increase.   Florida law requires the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity to calculate a minimum wage rate each year. According to the DEO the annual calculation  is based on the percentage increase in the federal Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers in the South Region for the 12-month period prior to September 1, 2011.

For tipped employees the minimum hourly wage is $4.65.
