Christmas Holiday Gift to State Employees
For many the Christmas Holiday starts today, even the State of Florida workers. The Governor gave the order to Jack Miles, Secretary of the Department of Management Services to give all nonessential employees a paid day off on Friday, December 23, 2011.
In his letter he stated, “This year has been yet another extremely difficult period for many Floridians, including State employees who diligently serve the State of Florida. State employees have not received a cost of living increase in five years, yet they continue to selflessly serve the State. During this holiday season, I would like to recognize State employees for their dedicated service.”
Some essential services must continue and those employees that must work Friday will receive a paid day off to use in the next six months.
