Jay Not Immune to Crime

Watch your package arrivals in the Jay area. A Jay resident reported coming home Tuesday night to a ripped open package on her front porch from a national phone carrier service and delivered by a national delivery service. The box was ripped open and the contents were missing.
According to a local Santa Rosa County Deputy, 11 calls were answered by the department on Tuesday, including one call from Jay in which the victim had his entire hunting arsenal stolen which included over 60 items.
One of the “tricks” of criminals this year is following delivery trucks to houses the entire route within a community and then looping back to check on packages remaining outside. If they are still there, the criminals take that opportunity to steal packages.
The victim reported that the crime occurred at approximately 4 pm in the afternoon with neighbors all around.
