Cross Country District Meet -expectations
The District 1 Class 1A Cross Country Meet will be hosted by Jay High School at Simms Middle in Pace. Jay hopes to be hosting the meet next year at home. With the purchase of the Hy-Tec program and equipment the site will be up to State Standards to hold the meet. The District meet will be on November 5th at 11:30 and 12:15 for boys and girls. The top 13 individual runners and the top 4 teams will advance to Regionals which will be held in Lake City on Nov.12. From there the top six teams in the region will advance to the state which will be in Dade City on Nov.19th
Schools in the District 1 – 1A Class for Cross Country are: Baker, Central , Freeport. Jay, Laurel Hill , Paxton, Pensacola Christian, and Rocky Bayou.
The Lady Royals hope to have 5 girls in the top 15 and they expect the team to advance to the regional meet. For the boys they are hoping to have 5 runners at the starting line and have high expectations that Micah Kemp, who is running in the mid 17’s, will advance to regionals.
Both the Lady Jaguars and Central Boys Cross Country teams have had a record breaking year. The girls team expects to place high enough to continue to Regionals with both Kennedy Fuller and Beth Smith going on individually. The Boys have a young team and hope to see them advance. Kyle Fuller has a chance to advance to the Regionals individually.
