Lady Royals CC makes History
The Lady Royals Cross Country team have a new number – 15. The team swept the runners at the cross country meet at Pace on Tuesday placing 1st through 5th scoring a perfect 15. The Lady Royals have a special ritual after a meet where they gather together and repeat the motto taught long ago by previous coach J.D. McDaniel – I Believe, I Believe, I Believe that we can win…. and they did. The times for the Lady Royals are:
1 st place Jorja Agrait 21:53
2 nd place Allison Blair 22:12
3 Rd place Jessica Thornton 22:15
4 th place Savannah Brown 23:03
5 th place Jenna Thornton 23:05

12 th place Kristen Pike
When the Lady Royals started the season they assumed it would be a rebuilding year because the Royals had lost three of their top five runners. Robin Blackman had led the Royals last season and went on to run at Troy University. Leely Trevino now attends FSU and helped to lead the Royals to state last year where they become Florida’s top public school in class 1A. After the loss of these seniors the Royals hoped to at least have an average season but this season has turned out to be anything but average. After winning the JD Mac Invitational a few weeks ago the team set its sights on winning the Pace meet that was held this Tuesday in Pace at Simms middle school. Not only did they win the meet they achieved a perfect score. The last time this happened at Jay was in the mid nineties. It usually only happens a few times in a coaches career. In a field of eight schools and more than 70 runners the Royals captured the top five places.
