Chumuckla Elementary Receives Gift of Beautification

Chumuckla Elementary received a gift of beautification.  Leadership Santa Rosa, a community group designed to promote new leadership in the county.  Each year a new group or class is selected.  This is the 25 year of the organization.  Class 25, following a tradition for the leadership classes to be actively involved in the community through a social project chose Chumuckla Elementary.

Sherry Smith, Principal of Chumuckla Elementary, was impressed with the group’s designs and follow through.  The group led by Chris Hendrix, chose to improve the beauty and safety of the front of the school.  The project included a raised flower bed for handicapped children, painting picnic tables, establishing a outdoor classroom, and a large flower bed around the roots of the large oak tree at the entrance of the courtyard.  The group designed “totem poles” in connection with the school’s motto.

T – trustworthy

R -respectful, responsible

I -indians

B – believe in

E- excellence!

Leadership Santa Rosa worked on Friday and Saturday to accomplish the project. All funds for the project are the responsibility of Leadership Santa Rosa.  The class seeks donations and other sources to fund the project so the recipient can enjoy the “free” gift.
