Jay Student-Athlete Competed in Triathlon-updated with results
Jorja Agrait came in third in her age group, the Loggerheads, with a total time of 28.30.75. She was able to gain on others in her division by recording the lowest time on the run at 7.27. Way to Go Jorja. Keep up the great work.
Here she goes again! Jorja Agrait, a seventh grade Jay High School student-athlete, will compete in the 2nd Annual Sea Turtle Triathlon on October 2nd at the Gulf Islands National Seashore’s Opal Beach. Agrait competed in her first dual sport competition earlier this year when she won the Overall Female MPI Maritime Deluna Kids Duathlon in Pensacola.
The MPI Sea Turtle Tri involves a 150 yard swim, 3 mile bike, and 1 mile run. Agrait will compete in the “Loggerhead” division (11-12 year olds). The event is sponsored by the Multi-Sport Performance Institute (MPI), which promotes sporting events for all ages. Agrait has always enjoyed sports and loves the challenge that comes with competition. She has excelled in motor cross racing, softball, and basketball. After meeting runner and coach Matt Dobson she was encouraged to go out for her school’s cross country and track teams. Dobson works with kids and adults to develop their running potential and is available as a personal coach. After having immediate success in the sport of running, she continues to set goals beyond just her school competitions. She was the Overall Junior Champion in the Great Pumpkin 5K Run held in Pensacola back in November 2010. She currently runs on the Jay High School Cross Country team and will play basketball and run track in the spring.
Jay High School has a rising star in Agrait and you can expect to see her out in front at the Sea Turtle Triathlon on Sunday morning.
