15th Annual Chumuckla Redneck Christmas Parade
The 15th Annual Chumuckla Redneck Christmas Parade is Saturday December 10, 2011 at 1:00. Chumuckla Athletic Association’s biggest fundraising event is the “Chumuckla Redneck Christmas Parade”. What started out as a joke among the locals 15 years ago has grown into one of the largest events in Santa Rosa County drawing some 15,000 to 20,000 people. It now starts at 9 am with craft vendors, food vendors, a car show, and ends with a live band. Due to the exceptionally great turnout last year the sponsors have increased police, parking, and porta potties all for your convenience and safety. Here are a few of the changes:
- NEW PARADE ROUTE this year- Route will begin at Cotton Gin and will continue up Hwy 182 cross 197 and end at Salter Road. We changed the route this year in hopes of helping with traffic flow.
- PARADE LINE-UP-Line up traffic will turn left off 197 onto Howell Pit Road then turn left on Mineral Springs to Cotton Gin. Signs will be posted everywhere. Lineup from 9-12:00am. We will have lots of police presence during this event. The parade floats will be judged this year.
- All mail in entries must be mailed no later than November 17, 2011.
- Parade float entry $35
Corporation- Advertisement Entry $100
Motorcycles, horses, and car/trucks- $20 - Mark Harris will hold a tractor show this year in the T ball field
- The baseball field will have a car show by Panhandle Cruisers
- The Pre T-ball field will be a small kid’s area, with inflatable jumpers
- We are opening our softball field up for $5.00 a vehicle parking
- Handicapped parking will be located at the Chumuckla School, for free. You must have a decal to park in this area.
- Craft and Food Vendors will be moved to a better location this year (If you want to have a craft booth, you must register:
$40.00 for craft booth and food vendors will be $75.00) - CAA will also be selling Redneck Christmas T-shirts this year. Profits made off the sale of these shirts help to fund Christmas for the needy kids of the surrounding communities
- Rednecks Caring At Christmas: We will also have the Santa’s Sleigh at the beginning of the parade route. Please bring a NEW UN WRAPPED gift to throw into the sleigh. It can be a gift of a toy, clothes, shoes, electronics, movies, etc…Every gift will help us, help a child in need. CAA on average helps 65 children a year. You can also send monetary donations to help buy Christmas gifts to the address listed above.
