Prep Football is back! Week 1…with predictions

Crestview @ Milton Kickoff-Kickoff 7:30pm

Milton is hosting Crestview on Friday night in front of what could be a big, excited crowd. While the Panthers went winless last season, there is a buzz around Milton High about this year’s possibility with a new head coach in Ronnie Douglass. Crestview went 4-6 last season.

Pace @ Mary G. Montgomery-Kickoff 7:00pm

Pace too has a new head coach this year. Vance Smith, son of former Pace High Coach Kent Smith, takes the reigns for the Patriots. Pace had a great season last year going 10-2 before losing in the second round of the playoffs. Last season, these two schools played and Pace came out on top in a close one, 17-14.

Lighthouse @ Jay-Kickoff 7:00pm

Jay is coming off a 9-2 season and is eager to start the 2025 season off with a win. Lighthouse Academy had an 8-5 season a year ago and would like nothing more than to play upset. While the Royals have to replace several key positions, the underclassmen seem ready to assume those roles. Last season, the Royals topped the Stingrays 35-8 in week three.

Central @ Franklin County-Kickoff 7:30pm

The Central Jaguars are in their second season as a full-fledged varsity program. They make the long trip to face the Seahawks of Franklin County. Last season the Jaguars won their last game of the season to win their first game in the school’s history. Franklin County is coming off a 6-5 2024 year.

Predictions

Week 1 will be telling for Milton and Pace. It should be exciting to see how much Central has improved as well.
