Escambia River Electric Cooperative Announces Temporary Bill Reduction for January Amid Extreme Cold
Jay, FL – Due to the record-breaking cold temperatures and snowfall in January, Escambia River Electric Cooperative (EREC) is taking action to assist its members with their energy costs. To help alleviate the financial strain caused by increased electricity usage, EREC will be reducing bills for the month of January.
As temperatures dropped to historic lows with approximately 9 inches of snowfall, members saw a significant rise in their energy consumption to keep their homes warm and safe. EREC understands the impact of these extreme weather conditions and is committed to supporting the community during this time.
A key component of electric bills is the Purchased Power Cost Adjustment (PPCA) charge, which reflects the fluctuating costs of fuel and electricity generation. This charge varies based on the market price of fuel and the cost of generating electricity. To ease the burden on members, EREC is removing the PPCA charge for January, resulting in lower bills.
“Our members are our top priority, and we recognize the challenges that come with unexpected weather extremes,” said Ryan Campbell, CEO and General Manager of EREC. “By removing the PPCA charge, we aim to provide some financial relief while maintaining reliable service.”
EREC encourages members to continue practicing energy efficiency and reach out for assistance if they have concerns about their bills. For more information on this adjustment or tips on reducing energy usage, members can visit www.erec.com or contact EREC at 850-675-4521.
